Digital Ink

Unlock the data trapped within paper documents!

BayScribe has integrated digital ink technology from Rover Ink to extend the possibilities for unstructured data capture at the point of care. Providers can continue to hand-write notes on the same forms they use today with BayScribe extracting the clinical data from the paper via SID and integrating that information into the EMR/EHR.

The possibilities for efficiency, security and savings are virtually endless. Industry analysts state that processing a piece of paper costs between $30-90 per page. In healthcare, the costs can be significantly greater when considering the impact on patient care that a lost document can create; delayed scheduling of operations (lost consent forms); discrepancies with past medical history, medications, etc. (patient registration forms); scanning of HIPAA consent forms… the list is as long as the list of paper documents you still use.

With BayScribe Digital Ink you will create efficiency, improve Patient Security and unlock the clinical information that is trapped within your scanned PDF’s.

How does it work?

We take your existing forms and we add a layer of intelligence on top of them. You print the forms on regular paper using the Rover Forms Print Driver, which applies a fine dot pattern to the paper that the digital pen recognizes. People call it the magic pen, and they aren’t far off. The pen records the date and time of the writing and can differentiate between sheets of paper on its own, and each dot pattern is completely unique. The pen strokes and markings are recorded and uploaded into BayScribe and converted to text at which time they become available to the care team members via dashboards and/or in the EMR/EHR via SID. Amazing!
