The report type information, as well as the patient ADT information and consulting physician is ‘known’ from the ADT feed and the dictation system. The MT did not type any of this information.
If you use inhouse MTs, calculate that by the pay rate of the Transcriptionist, and that equates to real ‘hard-cost’ savings for each and every report generated. Using industry-average compensation (.085 per line) for a Transcriptionist this would equate to a savings of $0.395 for a single-page report. Add a second page, and the savings increase again and again. Multiply that by the number of ‘Consultations’ per month or per year and the savings are tremendous – thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars per year.
If you outsource to an MTSO, calculate that by the pay rate of the Transcriptionist, and that equates to real ‘hard-cost’ savings for each and every report generated. Using industry-average compensation (.13 per line) for a Transcriptionist this would equate to a savings of $0.605 for a single report. Multiply that by the number of ‘Consultations’ per month or per year and the savings are tremendous – thousands, or even tens of thousands of dollars per year.
